Kawano was part of the Animation Supporters group that showed up to promote the 2016 Indiegogo Animation Dormitory campaign. This crowdfunding project aims to provide discounted housing to fledgling animators to encourage them to stay in the field until they are able to earn better wages. Kawano is one of those currently being housed in one of the dormitories. He has worked on a couple of other series including Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress and Kill la Kill. He's also the only artist I've met who started with one type of autograph on the first day of a convention and had a completely different signature on the last day. This particular sketch features a Day 1 signature.
