This episode is largely an introduction to the secondary characters that make up Sakura's world. There's Yukito, the friend of her older brother whom Sakura crushes on and Tomoyo, Sakura's classmate, cousin and fan girl. Strange things are happening at Sakura's school and all the students have gone to school, only to find all their desks and supplies have been rearranged into a disorderly pile. Kero tells Sakura that it's the workings of a Clow Card. With Tomoyo in tow, Sakura and Kero head to her school at night and discover that 'The Shadow' card was the one behind the rearranged items. Thanks to Tomoyo's encouragement, Sakura manages to capture 'The Shadow' and accepts her role as a card captor.
