Shikishi sketch ( 色紙 ) featuring Cryska Barchenowa from Muv-Luv Alternative ( マブラヴ オルタネイティヴ
), signed and drawn by the series manga artist, Azusa Maxima (Makijima).

Maxima was an unannounced guest at AX 2012, and seemed to be more of a tag-a-long than anything else. Once you received your autograph from Ayami & Kuribayashi, you passed a table on the side where a man, surrounded by manga and other books, sat on the side. There was no sign mentioning who he was, but, I noticed that he was sketching and figured that he probably was the mangaka. When the interpreter mentioned his name, having some knowledge of kanji, it was easier to make the connection.

Maxima was rather fickle - Whatever he was drawing became your commission. You could not request a character for him to draw, and you had to wait around 10 feet away from him while he drew. He also would not draw with any material you could provide him, and instead chose to draw with a thick permanent marker. On the second and final Muv Luv autograph day, Maxima took a total of three commissions, and only drew 8 sketches at Anime Expo.

While I might be able to understand the attitude had Maxima been a famous mangaka, but considering that he was doing the manga version for a concept already designed and executed by Sou Miyata and the eroge company he works for, Age, it seemed a bit ouf of place.

Check out DrScorpio's Yui sketch.
