Ensnared by Mistress 9, Sailor Neptune begs Sailor Moon not to hand over the Holy Grail to the enemy.

During a brief interruption of Mistress 9's possession of Hotaru's body, Hotaru's soul tells her father that the only way to save her body is for Sailor Moon to give her the Holy Chalice. Wanting to save Hotaru, Sailor Moon summons the grail as Sailor Uranus and Neptune plead with her not to surrender it. Both Uranus and Neptune realize that Mistress 9 is deceiving Sailor Moon and both soldiers threaten her to not hand over the grail. However, their pleas go unanswered as Sailor Moon has already vowed to save Hotaru at all costs.

Though Neptune's words in this particular scene do not have the impact of those in the following sequence, I find that this particular sequence is far more visually interesting. Ever since her appearance in the series, Neptune has relied on her skill in order to get her point across. But now that she's trapped, she's powerless to take control of the situation. This is the first instance in the series where Neptune and her partner, Uranus, are powerless to act. And you can see how much that that powerlessness is killing them.
