Furuya attended Fanime 2011. Unfortunately, those in charge of Fanime 2011 decided that it would be a great idea to schedule all the autograph sessions & concerts on the weekend. Thanks to the long lines, I didn't think I'd get a chance to Furuya's autograph. But fortunately, his Sunday line went quickly, and I was able to not only attend his autograph session, but the special session he held afterward. I had Furuya sign a pink colored shikishi board in order to make a matching set with the Kotono Mitsuishi shikishi I obtained at Sakuracon 2011. I could tell he hesitated a bit, seeing how there was a somewhat cutesy pattern bordering the edges of the shikishi...but, no matter, Furuya was a good sport about it.
