New Year's Postcard ( 年賀状 ) drawn at Comiket 79 in December 2010 by Welcome to the N.H.K, Sugar Dark & Tsukumo Happy Soul artist Kendi Oiwa ( 大岩ケンヂ ).

This postcard, along with its two companions, were drawn at the exhibition hall at Comiket 79 in Tokyo, Japan. As the winter Comiket occurs near the end of the year, postcards are a popular commodity due to the custom of sending out New Year's greetings to friends and loved ones. This sketch was drawn on a pre-stamped postcard that could have been used for this time honored tradition. As with many postcard artwork, the artist used their characters and then tied them in to the Lunar New Year animal featured in the upcoming year.

As usual, the postcards featuring male characters were not popular, which explains why these popped up on Yahoo Japan quickly after Comiket ended. The cards featuring female characters, on the other hand, attracted a lot more bidders. I still have no clue as to the names or work that these characters come from, so, any help would be much appreciated.

(grumbles) Some artists really need to decide which name they want to work under and just stick to it. This artist uses both Kenji and Kendi for his works, and, in the case of these three postcards, he went under Kenji. It really makes for more tedious research!
