"Now, if you, the Messiah of Silence, set the Grail onto this device, the light of darkness with shine upon the Tau Nebula." The deliciously dark Mistress 9 listens to Professor Tomoe as he elaborates on the coming of Pharoah 90. In the Sailor Moon universe, I have two villians that I just love to hate - Sailor Galaxia and this one here, Mistress 9. While Galaxia had the raw power and cruelty areas perfected, she lacked one important "dark" characteristic - sensuality. Mistress 9, in her curve-shaping dress, understood how to use her body to convey her intentions. The animators perfectly understood how the sensuality factor could heighten her dark nature, and I think this cel captures this trait. This particular cel is used in two of the three sequences - one in which it ends with this expression and the final sequence, in which this cel begins the sequence. This particular sequence was drawn by Ikuko Ito, who later became the character designer for "Princess Tutu"(thanks, Ginga!). This cel consists of two layers, with Mistress 9's outer face profile and hair on the bottom layer and Mistress 9's expression on the top layer. This particular sequence is cut into three different aspects. The cel that I own appears at the end of the second sequence and the beginning of the third. From Episode 124 - "Semarikuru yami no kyofu! Kusen no hachi senshi" (Fear of Approaching Darkness! The Struggle of the Eight Soldiers).
