Although presumed to be dead, Hotaru internally battles Mistress 9 for control of her body.

At the beginning of episode 124, Mistress 9 remarks that she has not fully gained control of the Hotaru's body. She attempts to seclude herself until Hotaru's soul gives up. In the begining of Episode 125, Hotaru's soul apologizes to Chibiusa and fades away, leaving the viewer and Mistress 9 to believe that Hotaru had died. However, it was Mistress 9's attempt to strangle Hotaru's father, that revitalizes Hotaru's attempt to regain control of her body.

This was a cel I purchased in 2003 when a Japanese seller was liquidating his Hotaru/Mistress 9 collection. There were some lovely, lovely cels for sale, and a lot of competition from US and Japanese bidders. This cel was the cheapest of the lot.
